Shivani & Shyam: A Home, A Wedding, A Whole Lot of Heart
We photographed the sweetest Maharashtrian wedding for two people who now feel like friends, surrounded by families that instantly felt like home. Shivani and Shyam’s story is straight out of a Bollywood campus drama. They met in college — Shyam was tucked away in the library when Shivani walked in with a friend. Fate stepped in, the friend made an introduction, and something just clicked.
That moment was the quiet beginning of something truly beautiful.
The Portraits: The First Home, The First Photos
Shivani and Shyam are grounded, thoughtful people—the kind who don’t make a fuss, but always mean what they choose. They invited us to their new home—still being put together—just one day before the wedding. It was probably the first time they were photographed in this space. Their cats wandered around like they owned the place (they probably do), and we spent some quiet moments doing a short portrait session.
While shooting, we got talking about how they met and how much they’ve grown over the years. Being together for that long means evolving—not just as a couple but as individuals too. You become more "you," but also more "us." And that’s what made this session special—it wasn’t about just the photos, it was about who they had become, together.
Mehendi + Sangeet : All the Fun, All the Feels
That evening was full of colour, music, and joy. The mehendi and sangeet were rolled into one energetic celebration, and both families truly brought their A-game. Friends danced, cousins cheered, and Shivani’s mom stole the show with a surprise performance that had everyone smiling from ear to ear.
The Wedding: Morning Light & Maharashtrian Traditions
Shivani got ready at home, with her three cats occasionally checking in on her glam process. We caught a few minutes of soft morning sun with her on the lawns of Country Club before the ceremony began.
The wedding itself was a roller coaster of emotions—bursting into laughter one moment, quiet tears the next. It was a classic Maharashtrian ceremony with all its elegance and grace.
But the energy didn’t stop there. Since Shyam is Gujarati, there was a proper baraat after the wedding—one that brought the chaos, colour, and endless dancing we’ve come to love. Shyam made his entry, there was a fun varamala moment at the entrance (always a bit of a beautiful mess), and then the mangalashtak was sung as they officially became husband and wife.
Through the Hiraaya Lens
One thing about wedding days—they fly. But this one left us with that lingering warmth, the kind that stays long after the last song has played, and the lights are packed up.
Shivani & Shyam, thank you for letting us witness the start of your forever—complete with cats, chaos, and all the love.
